Hide and Seek - “...uncover the truth, to bury the past...”

“...uncover the truth,
to bury the past...”

Its been a while since I updated this blog, but my little puzzle game is gradually progressing. Lots of puzzles have been built.

A few photos/scenes from the game can be found below sans the GUI. I’ll save the puzzles for another time. Can’t give too much away...

Hide and Seek - a puzzle based game

I’m working on a new game for both iPhone and iPad. It’s called ‘Hide and Seek’ and is based on the photography I’ve taken in and around Sussex. It mainly revolves around the player completing puzzles and collecting various items to continue on through various scenes.

A title mockup on an iPad below. This is all subject to change…

Photography website

Thought I’d create a photography section on the website. You can download or buy prints of the Sussex landscape and other shots I’ve taken on my travels.

There’s also a tumblr blog which I’ll update every once in a while.

Swipe!

Yep, following feedback from beta testers I decided to change the way you move Derek. It’s now a simple up and down swipe of the screen to make him jump or fall. A lot simpler...

ChowHound influences

There were various influences that I thought of when designing the game’s ‘look and feel’. Elements of old Warner Bros. cartoons, the ‘Merry Melodies’ and Tom & Jerry toons were a starting point.

Eyvind Earle was a big influence when it came to the background design. His undulating landscapes often filled with mists, shadows and stylised canopies.

Grant Wood was another influence on the look of the trees and shrubbery. A ‘cartoonesque’ parody of plants.
